I finally took the plunge and tried the seitan.
The riblets were a hit.
I used the recipe from 500 Vegan Recipes by Celine Steen and Joni Marie Newman.
I made a few small changes....just can't leave things alone.
I used the whole box of the vital wheat gluten which is about 1 1/4 cups.
I changed the 1 tsp of onion powder to 1/2 tsp of onion salt and 1/4 tsp of garlic powder.
The recipe yielded 6 good sized servings and we'll be having leftovers in buns today.
That looks delicious! I am thinking of making her festivus loaf for Easter. I have my 83 year omni stepfather coming for dinner and he is always so surprised that our food always is so good. :-) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm in- haven't tried a 'riblets' or 'ribs' recipe yet, as I was never a big barbecue fan, but I do like me some spicy on (many an) occasion, and I just got the book, so this recipe is on the list!
